this isnt a cheaply made toy box it is sturdy and has a device that keeps it from slamming down on those little fingers

very happy with the toy chest, easy assembly and after my wife embellished it for our grandaughter it may be a family heirloom to pass down to her kids.

I purchased this toy box about a year ago and it is no longer with us. Within the first couple weeks after putting it together (maybe first few days, I don't remember!) the screws attatching the safety catch to the lid had pulled loose from the cheap fiberboard composing the lid. They just shredded the fiberboard rather than holding on, leaving big ugly holes and making it impossible to reattat the safety catch. I had to take the lid off completely to keep if from falling on my one year old's head.
Less than 6 months later we moved and this did NOT hold up! By the time it got to our new home the bottom was falling out and several of the screw lock things were falling out or missing. It was irreperable, the whole thing got consigned to the trash.
Do yourself a favor and just spend a little more on a solid wood toy box that will really last. It may cost you a little more but if you get something neutral it'll last a lifetime and can always be used as a bench later on.

This toybox is a great price. Assembly was quick and easy. I don't think it is cheap quailty, in fact buying this prompted me to purchase a bookshelf by the same manufacterer which I love as well. Simply stated, great price, great product, no issues.

Perfect size for a young girl's room to fit at the end of a twin bed. Easy to assemble and has a safety lid. Can also be used as a seat! The little girl LOVED IT and keeps all her dress-ups in the box.
