Exactly what you would expect for the price and picturesDec 18, 2008
My wife and I bought this bed from Amazon as the pictures looked very nice. Even though the sale price was less than the shipping at the time when we ordered, it was still cheaper than most of the king beds around town and fit what we were looking for. A simple bed with storage.
The assembly was relatively easy, though if you're not familiar with putting together desks, chairs and other furniture of this nature then it may be more of a medium challenge. You will want a power screwdriver and 2 people. You CAN do it on your own, but you may want to hit the gym first. Some of the pieces are a little heavy and some steps require 4 hands. Assembly time varies, but we had less than 1 hour to put it together as our mattress was being delivered that day and we pulled it off. Overall, it looks exactly how you would expect from the pictures.
The best advice I can give is to assemble it exactly where it will reside as it nearly impossible to slide across carpet. We needed to move it about 9inches closer to the wall and not only was it difficult, but the particle board cross-members underneath the bed ended up getting bowed slightly. This meant the drawers, whose slides are located on the members, now did not slide smoothly. But they work fine. Make sure the beams are are not significantly bowed before you start putting the slats across the top.
You don't need a box spring for it, unless you are 8ft tall and like jumping up to get into bed.
