I was lookng for a teak bench for my shower and this was an excellent price. The wood doesn't look like other teak benches I've had but it seems to be holding up quite well in the shower.

I should have read the details of the product. The wood is not teak. It has a teak colored finish. I'm using this in the shower. In less than a month the finish has begun to come off. Disappointing.

Good construction, bad for showerJul 29, 2008
I bought this as a cheap solution for my wife to shave her legs in the shower. Bad for this application as the finish quickly starts to come off. I have since bought her an unfinished teak one from smithandhawken.com that works great. It was the cheapest best looking real teak one I could find at the time. We moved this one to our front porch and it is working out ok there. I think it would wear best in the house, in a dry area.

Very handy, and looks greatJun 29, 2008
Pregnant and recovering from tendon surgery, I needed a place to sit in the shower. We have a big shower, so we got this bench as opposed to the smaller ones. Very quick and easy to assemble. It is fantastically big, has rubber feet on the bottom of the legs for easy, no scratch sliding as I get in and out of the shower. I'm not actually convinced it is teak as bits of wood splinters have come out occasionally over the past month of use, but it's looking great non the less. That could be just the finish stain, but if it's not teak, then it won't stand the test of time. For now it's great and I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm glad we didn't get one of the smaller medical grade stools as I don't find them nearly as astheically pleasing.

we needed a bench to sit on during and after showering. this works just fine.
