Incredible is the best word to describe this warming pad. This is one of the safest and plush warming pads you'll ever have the luxury of snuggling up on. The 233 thread-count 80% poly/20% cotton dobby stripe shell is incredibly soft and soothing but that's just one of the wonderful features of this pad. Constructed within the pad is the pantented Safe & Warm™ low-voltage technology. This low-voltage mattress pad includes a small power supply box that changes 120 volt AC home current into non-hazardous low voltage DC current (very similar to a battery) to provide warmth, protection and safety even if the pad becomes wet. Unlike other warming pads with their bulky wires, the heating wires in the Soft Heat pads are so small, they are virtually unnoticeable and also give more of an even heat, meaning-no hot or cold spots. The twin size pad comes standard with one easy to read, easy to turn, non-slip computerized controller to adjust the temperature of the pad. With an automatic pre-heat and hold feature you simply turn it on and the pad will warm up on HI until it reaches the temperature that you pre set your dial on and then adjusts itself to hold it there. For your safety and convienience it has an automatic shut off feature that will shut the pad off after 10 hours just in case you forget. It also comes standard with built in over-temperature protection for that extra bit of safety and piece of mind. A fitted skirt keeps it all in place to eliminate shifting or bunching and gives better sheet fit. Easy care feature means that it's machine washable and dryable and will not stretch, pill or shrink giving you many years of warm luxurious use, Guaranteed to fit up to 18" mattress depth. Not recommended for use with an electric adjustable bed, water bed or blowup air mattresses (Sleep Number Beds are OK). | | | Features: | |

Worth every pennyMar 14, 2010 This feels so good it's a wonder the government doesn't try to make it illegal. It's like having a heating pad all over your whole body, only there's no hot plastic feeling or sweatiness. There's also not the weight of an electic blanket over you. It's just warm, even, wonderful heat. I paid 130 some dollars and would glady do it again. It is a wonderful device that makes rest so much more comfortable and enjoyable. The first night I used it I found myself wondering why in the world I didn't buy this years ago. Really, it feels that good.

Three months later price has doubled.Mar 06, 2010 Soft Heat Warming Twin Mattress Pad. I like my warming pad, it's very comfortable & I find I need fewer blankets on top. It has held up well for the 3 1/2 months that I have owned it. I have not attempted to wash it.
Two cons:
(1) HEAT REGULATION: A setting that is quite comfortable the first half of the night leaves me over-warm towards dawn, enough so to cause me to wake & attempt in my half-sleep to reset. Does the pad actually get warmer the longer I sleep on it, I wonder?
(2) PRICE: Returned today to purchase a second warming pad for my teenage daughter, stuck it in my cart & took it right out again the second I noticed the total. What a shocker! The same warming pad that I purchased from Amazon mid-November, 2009, for $49.88 & not on any special sale, is now, beginning of March 2010, being sold by Amazon for $99.95, rendering the warmth provided no longer cost-effective.

Toasty warmMar 05, 2010 We've had our heated mattress pad for several months now and found it to be an excellent buy. No problems with cold spots and each side heats individually. I really like the fact that the plug for the pad is unobtrusive and away from body parts (unlike other heated mattress pads I've used). It fits the bed well and doesn't slide around. The controls are easy to see and use. It does not take long to heat up...I'm usually warm and toasty within five minutes. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is due to the price.

Will keep you warm even in a FRIGID roomMar 02, 2010 We have a bedroom in an old drafty Victorian which averages about 30 degrees colder than the rest of the house (don't ask!). When winter hit this year, we researched bed warmers and this one got the best reviews -- rightly so! You don't feel the wires at all, and it is easy to use and it works!
You can crank it up to HI and then slide into bed, turn it off for the rest of the night and be toasty warm, or keep it on LOW all night long and be quite comfortable. We prefer to crank it and then turn it off for the night, works great and beats getting into an icy bed.
So, if you are freezing at night and your room is in the 50s or low 60s, this is the temporary solution until you can fix the insulation/heating problems.

Faulty after 4 monthsMar 01, 2010 SoftHeat King size heated underblanket dual control.
After 4 months purchase 10th november 2009, this product is still usable, but only half the wires are now making heat across the top half of the right side the underblanket. The company that imports them in Charlotte NC - perfect fit formerly Chattham and Wells has a customer service department, 1800 438 1516 contacted them today. We will see what happens.
Update to follow.
