Decent for the priceOct 05, 2009 Received this dresser as a gift for our baby's nursery and I spent a couple of hours putting it together myself (not too bad considering I'm 8 months pregnant). The directions were clear and the dresser is sturdy enough to work well for clothing and baby blankets.
One major negative to me is the depth of the drawers. They are only a little over half as deep as the drawer fronts are tall. Why not make them a couple of inches deeper so they can hold more? Doesn't make sense, even as a way to cut costs.
Overall the dresser is decent for how much it costs. We couldn't afford a high quality dresser this time around, and this dresser will do just fine. We'll see how well it lasts over the next couple of years.
Perfect FitSep 24, 2009 We received this dresser in a few days after ordering and it is great. It looks great! We put a changing pad on the top and it fits perfectly. The only issue is that the drawers dont seem to slide in and out very easily and I'm not sure if that is due to my error of putting it together or if it is a manufacturing error. With a little fiddling it works just fine. Very cute! I love it!
Wow'ed by customer serviceJul 13, 2009 First off the product was very well packed. There was not even a chance of damage -- which for mail order furniture is a big deal. The pieces felt solid (particle board is pretty strong, only downside is that chips cannot easily be covered over). This will last MUCH longer than the IKEA crap. Also the style and color was much nicer in person than in the pictures.
Assembly was not overly complicated, but I was missing parts. I called StorkCraft directly and was initially very disappointed at the turn around for parts. After escalating the issue, these guys really came through. It is that reason alone I decide to post the review. Yes the parts should not have been missing to begin with, but these things do happen.
My suggestion is you immediately (and carefully) unpack everything and ensure you have all the pieces and hardware. If you have anything missing call right away with the details.
Anyway, kudos to StorkCraft for listening to customers. Process could be improved, but attention to customers and details will help them get there.
Exactly what we were looking for.Jul 09, 2009 The nursery for our daughter is a small room, so we had to be careful when selecting furniture and find something that fit our space requirements. I was a little nervous about purchasing this Stork Craft (white) Tower because of all the bad reviews on here. I'm glad we ended up purchasing this, because we've been very happy with it!
I purchased this from Amazon when they offered free shipping. It took about 3-4 weeks for it to arrive, which seems to be standard for this product from all the reviews I've read on here. The only broken pieces in the box were the masonite boards that lined the box to protect the tower/combo itself - everything for the actual item was intact with no scratches or anything.
My husband and I friend of his put this together for us in about an hour. The directions were pretty straight forward, and we didn't need to use anything but a hammer or a screwdriver.
Pros:
-It looks great! The design is classic and would look great in any room and the wood/paint was very well done and looks fantastic.
-There's enough space for everything we needed it for. The drawers are deeper than I thought they were and are easy to move in and out. The tower is great for all the extra storage, and for putting all our diapers/towels and other misc. baby stuff in.
-It comes with a wall anchor attached, which is a plus for when our daughter is old enough to stand/walk and starts pulling on stuff so we don't have to worry about it tipping over on her.
-Cost - this was significantly cheaper than all the other items like this that we were looking at, and the quality for the cost is, in our opinion, exceptional. I have friends who have paid hundreds more for similiar items that look, and function, just the same.
Cons:
-Like other reviewers have said, the wood is soft and can be easily scratched, especially during assembly.
-While we don't care about this, the back of the furniture is made out of the thin/masonite-type material so it's not solid wood in the back.
cheap "wood", chipped finish...not worth the moneyMay 12, 2009 While the dresser looks nice once it is put together, I was not impressed with the quality of craftsmanship. The dresser is particle board with a very thin wood topping; it cracks and falls apart when things are screwed together. The finish had splotches that were not painted and some areas were noticeably darker than others. I'm a little worried the dressed won't hold up for long and it definitely wont hold up if it ever needs to be moved from this house. Overall, my husband and I thought it was a cheaply made furniture with an over inflated price. I guess that's what we get for trying to buy a dresser that was a little less money than others.
