End tables reviewSep 17, 2009 The two end tables arrived just fine, well almost. There was quite a bit of assembly to be done. The night stands are pretty nice: visually simple and very honest (as opposed to the wood grained plastic surfaces that seem to have taken over the world). The interior shelves are quite thin and might eventually sag if too many books or weighty objects are left on them. Everything arrived in almost perfect shape except a bottom corner of one of the back panels had come apart. I fixed it with a small headed finishing screw because I new that I could, and I didn't want to go through the hassle of sending it back for a replacement. We are now happy with our new neat looking and well functioning night stands.

Great Side Table for the PriceSep 13, 2009 I needed a small table to fit in a tight space. This worked great. It is sturdy, which I needed, and the shelf and cabinet was an extra plus. It was easy to assemble. I extremly happy with the purchase.
Cheap price, cheap productSep 02, 2009 I was disappointed when I got this product, opened the box and found the back piece already damaged. I wasn't expecting such poor quality from Amazon retail. The wood had split on the top of the back piece, however I was still able to build the nightstand. It was a two person job to build, someone to hold the pieces together while the other screwed pieces together. It feels a bit flimsy, but I put it against the wall, so hopefully it wont break on me anytime soon. It serves it purpose though of sitting next to my bed with my lamp on it. I was hoping to find a great deal, but you really do get what you pay for and this is one of the cheapest nightstands I found with the right color and height.
attractive, top warped, may be at Bed Bath and BeyondAug 30, 2009 I bought what appears to be the identical tables 3 or 4 years ago. In case anyone wants to see it in real life, I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond in the fall during their "stock up for college" season. The price was about $30. The next year at that time, they had a newer and slightly more expensive version of the table with a drawer at the top instead of the open shelf (that version is also on amazon). The drawer did not fit that smoothly in the sample I saw at Bed Bath and Beyond, but it was ok. This year (2009), I did not see the item at Bed Bath and Beyond.
I bought two of these tables in espresso as nighstands for my bedroom. They were easy to assemble and look attractive, but the dark paint has flaked away in a few places on the top surface. More importantly, the top surface on both tables has warped slightly. Strips of wood were glued together to make the surface and the warping has occurred at the seams, making part of the tabletop slightly taller than the other side. It can be seen and felt, but doesn't bother me much considering the price I paid. Also, as a few others have said, in places the wood grain can be seen through the black paint which might be bothersome depending on what look you want.
I even decided to buy a third table in the natural stain for my daughter's bedroom, but have never gotten around to putting it together. From looking at the pieces, the top is made the same way as the espresso - pieces of wood glued together - and therefore the grain and stain of the different pieces is not uniform. So be aware of a possible patchy, more casual look if getting the natural stain.
This is a good-looking table, but don't expect it to last forever or stay beautiful in a prime location in your house. But I think it's definitely worth $35.
